Why we built it
A new prosecutor's first months are spent finding things: which statute applies, what the State must prove, which cases decide the question and how the office has handled it before. That knowledge exists in every office, but it lives in veterans' notes and memory, and it leaves when they do.
Legal Binders puts that knowledge in one shared library, organized by case type and linked the way a prosecutor works a case: from the statute, to the elements, to the cases that decide them, to the office's own outlines and motions. The office sets the standard, and every prosecutor starts from it.
What it is, and what it is not
Legal Binders is a reference library of law and an office's own work product. It is not a case management system and holds no case files. Its starting content is prepared from public statutes, court rules and published opinions; it is a starting point, not legal advice, and each office's Approvers review and approve it before their attorneys see it.
Who we are
Legal Binders is built by NEXGEN Solutions, LLC. We started with Maryland law and the misdemeanor docket, where new prosecutors begin, and have built the library out to ten states and federal law.
